The United States Navy remains a global colossus, with its warships, submarines and aircraft, along with the US Marines, projecting power and ready to fight whenever and wherever they are needed.
For decades, whether pursuing national objectives or working alongside allies, the US Navy has above all striven to maintain the peace, especially keeping the oceans free. However, in today’s turbulent world it is challenged by would-be foes more than at any time since the end of the Cold War almost 40 years ago.
It is therefore looking to achieve a balance of worldwide operational commitments while remaining involved in coalitions missions and also devoting itself to protecting and serving in home seas.
As with three previous instalments of our successful ‘Guide to the US Navy’ (2019, 2023 and 2025 editions) the new 100-page publication will seek to offer a high impact mix of ship type profiles and fighting branch outlines. It will be illustrated with stunning photography, drawing on official imagery and sources, while also utilizing the Warships IFR team of top writers and photographers.
There will be commentaries and analysis of the principal threats the US Navy counters via its global operations and also a dash of history, plus other key topics weighed up. Coverage of future weapon systems, aircraft and vessels will include looking at plans for a new generation of battleships, frigates and nuclear submarines, and also the latest on the drone revolution.
